A Page Out of my Journal

My my my. What a roller coaster of a year. You know how when music artists puts out an album, and they have all those filler tracks to take up some time? That’s how I feel about this year. It’s a filler year. I’ve been building on the foundation I’ve created for myself since I moved back down to Brooklyn. For one, I finally have healthy base of hair clientele that I won’t have to constantly travel to pay my bills. That’s really a blessing. I had a great conversation with one of my entrepreneurial friends about focusing on one craft at a time. Essentially I can’t give 100% to one craft if Im focused on more than one thing at a time. I had to do the right thing and put a pause on sewing for a second. At this moment in time hair has proven to be my biggest source of income so I had to concentrate on building myself up in this category of my business. And I must say, I have been getting positive results. I participated in NYFW for the very first time this past September as a professional hair stylist. It was amazing. These doors opened up a few more doors for me, and now I also dabble in editorial hair styling. Who would’ve thought!

Another positive for me was actively healing and moving on from a past relationship. I can honestly say it was the most heart wrenching process but I thank God that I made it through. But Im also happy to say that I stayed completely single allowed myself to go through all emotions before going into another relationship and potentially damaging somebody else. I took most of this whole year to heal and I finally feel okay with moving forward and focusing on my goals, my health, and myself. But you know what they say, when you’re focusing on yourself and thriving while focused, that special person always drops in when you least expect it! But that’s another blog post for another day.

FInally, Im dropping my second season collection of the ELITE organic collection or cotton hoodie and sweats. I’m so excited for everyone to experience quality, sustainable sets. I took into consideration the color palette for this winter season, and I just pray that it’s received positively. Fashion is subjective and not everyone will agree with what I’m doing and where I’m going. But this is my journey and while I’m extremely grateful for all of the support and love, I am most certainly not meant for everybody. Not all people have good taste. ;)
