The L-O-C Method

So on Tuesday I dropped my very first hair oil for my brand. Such an exciting feeling. It also gave me anxiety, but any entrepreneur can attest to the feeling moments before presenting your art to the public.

In this segment, I wanted to stress the importance of moisturizing your hair if your intentions are to see progress in growth and strength. A lot of women were never given the blueprint for sealing in moisture within the hair shaft. Lucky for you all, I am here to drop a few gems that will aid in maintaining a healthy hair for your head top, or even your beard! Yes men, your beard too.

The secret weapon is the LOC method. The LOC method stands for liquid, oil, and cream. Your liquid being a leave in conditioner, any oil of your choice, and a daily styling cream. It is imperative to incorporate the LOC method on freshly washed or damp hair. After a good wash day, I begin my moisturizing routine by sectioning my hair into fours with a wide tooth comb. Detangling is always easier with a wide tooth comb. Also while wet. The thought of picking through dry hair with a rat tail comb is actually crazy to me.

Anyways, in each quadrant, start off with your leave in conditioner. Please use your own discretion on how much leave in to use, based on how thick or thin your hair is. Run this through your hair from scalp to ends until fully saturated. Next is your oil *Cough Cough* FleekedbyBree’s new hair growth elixer is perfect for this next step. It’s filled with a plethora of essential oils and active ingredients such as black seed oil and meadow foam seed oil. These ingredients help seal moisture within your hair shaft. With your palms , coat the oil from your scalp to the ends if your hair. Additionally, the last step is the cream. Almost every hair care brand has their own twist on a daily moisturizing cream. It’ll usually say something like, “Shake well before using. Comb and style as desired.” So that’s exactly what you want to do next. If you’re styling after your moisture routine, it would be best to invest in one of these daily styling creams to finish the job. Applying these steps in this specific order will enhance the health and growth of your natural tresses.

Consistency is key here as well. Protective styles are amazing for growth, but if you enjoy rocking a natural look, you most likely wash your hair more than once or twice a month. When I am not rocking a protective style, I try to wash my hair at least once a week. Which means four times a month. I also refrain from washing my hair with shampoo every time I wash. As a women of color with curls, I am aware of how sulfates and alcohol in shampoo leaves my hair feeling brittle and dry. I am a huge fan of the brand As I Am and their cowash formula. It’s a great alternative to shampoo for anyone looking for another option.

I hope this blog has helped you, and please reach out to me with any further questions if you need guidance on how to take care of your hair!

Best
